The International Program

The International Program – PEI, from the Architecture and Design Faculty from the Pontifical Xaverian University Bogotá is a program of comprehensive education which born in 1996  as an initiative to connect interdisciplinary and international efforts to promote knowledge in different social, political, economic, architectural, design, philosophical and communicative dynamics. All of them are involved in the contemporary city construction in order to promote collaborative work among areas that were traditionally un connected, creating flexible work and investigation networks either proximate or at distance.

The program is committed to investigation and social innovation focused on architecture and design curricula, and on interdisciplinary condition strength, and its presence in the university in the country and abroad.

PEI´s work system is based in the Collective Intelligence and workshops dynamic, which points to the production and analysis of concrete proposals to identified problematics in each place. Running from the concept of small scale interventions that generate a BIG IMPACT.

For this project, we were assigned the task of creating, using recycled pieces, barrels, and wooden planks, a grandstand with a free design. This experience was quite comprehensive; we had direct contact with professionals who engaged us, teaching us constructive techniques. Simultaneously, we had our initial approach to a community that offered us the opportunity to apply our knowledge as architects.
