graduation project
This graduation project proposes the design of the Urban Cultural Core: Spaces for Artistic Expression for Revitalization in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, as a solution to the city’s urban and social deficiencies. Puerto Ordaz, originally conceived as an industrial hub, has failed to adapt to the growing cultural demands of its population, lacking adequate spaces to foster cultural exchange and social cohesion.
The project focuses on designing cultural infrastructure that promotes citizen participation and the revitalization of public spaces, enhancing their accessibility and connectivity to facilitate social interaction. It proposes the use of sustainable materials and the promotion of community gathering to ensure that the core not only meets functional needs but also contributes to strengthening the city’s social and cultural fabric.
This core not only hosts artistic activities but also encourages the community’s active participation across its various spaces, fostering cultural exchange and social cohesion. Furthermore, it seeks to connect and revitalize existing public spaces, integrating them into the urban infrastructure to improve mobility and energize Puerto Ordaz, bridging the gap between its initial industrial planning and the current cultural needs of its inhabitants.
